This one's for Holly Zerbe

So I made it all month posting a comic every weekday (though some were scant minutes before the end of the allotted "day"), up until yesterday, when I failed. Anyway, in the spirit of not being too hard on myself and still getting some drawing done, here is what should have been yesterday's comic:

Click it to make it bigger, don't be offended by my somewhat non-P.C. joke, and have yourself a wonderful rest of the weekend.

P.S. For any who care and never got that "riddle" one from a few days ago, the "answer" was Late. Night. Car. Tune. Late night cartoon.

Collaboration

I am currently in Connecticut at my parents' house (for my father's birthday; HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!) with my sister and her fiance boyfriend Daniel Pilger. Tonight, we collaborated on my comic. By "collaborated", I mean he drew one of his world famous comics that cracked me up (as they usually do), and then I adapted it (by his request and with his blessing), in a more "Ethan-istic" style, for my own daily here. So, I present to you first Daniel's comic (including a bonus comic he drew on the same page above it), and then my own take on it, done in a similar method (the Sharpie®-marker-straight-to-paper method) with, again, an "Ethan-esque" flare.

Also, I have no access to a scanner here, so the images below were taken with my digital camera and uploaded, until I get back to Philly and can replace them with proper scanned ones. Until then, click on the images to view them unintelligibly larger, and enjoy the melding of two great minds/marker skills...

Exhibit A:

(For some reason, when I upload this image here on my Blogger page, it loads sideways and I can't seem to remedy the problem no matter what I do. (It works fine on my xanga page...) Anyway, to view the image, click here)

Exhibit B:

To view an earlier comic that Daniel wrote and I illustrated, click here.

Have a great day, and check back on Monday for a new comic and maybe some other stuff.

Thank you!

Nothing is "simple"

This is one of those comics that I really liked the simplicity of the idea for, and when I sketched it out was happy with how equally simple and pleasant the drawings were. Then, when I went to do the finished piece, I couldn't recapture that same looseness, that lightness and simplicity of the original sketch. So I drew this one, like, 3 times before I settled on what you see here; much more quickly drawn than the first two attempts, a comic that I feel does my initial sketch the most justice. Anyway, hope you enjoy, and sorry for prattling on after what should've been a mostly wordless post. Of course, to those of you who never read my inane ramblings...good idea!

Have a happy.

#50!

That's right, folks, the big five-oh. (You can view the past 49 along with this one at my xanga page (or in an album sans my personal comments here)) And what a day I had to inspire it:

(click image to view the pain larger)

I know it's a bit sad and wordy (sorry for that), but number 51 will be both super-minimal in the letters department and super-happy in tone. I hope you enjoyed this one, nonetheless, had a better day than me, and will return to view a brighter, simpler comic tomorrow.

Thanks for watching, and have a great night/day!

Hulking Out/A Child's Dream

I drew this very quickly. It sorta sucks, but I hope it gets a little grin, at least from the comic book nerds.
For those who care, sorry it's so late.

Have a good one.

Eye's a little late

Click to see the large eyeball larger...

I know, I know, another "this is why I don't get my daily comic done" comic...even though I'm getting them done. I'm REALLY going to try and do less (if not no more) of these, but, hey, this one was posted, like, 17 hours later than usual, so...

Enjoy anyway, and have a great night/weekend.

New Digs

Welcome, welcome, friends and strangers alike! My name is Ethan Harper, and for most of you reading this...that information is nothing new. Actually, if by some chance you are a complete stranger to me, that information might still be nothing new...as...it is included...in...the web address...for this page...aaand you most likely got referred here by someone/thing that knows my name...BUT! Did you know that I also draw silly cartoon drawings such as the one below for my own art discipline/affirmation-seeking needs? Hmm? You did. Well...then I guess that's all there is...to say. Hmm. (If you do in fact know me, you know that the last sentence is a blatant lie, and I will continue to say more.......now.)

My current plan is to post my little sequential comics here once a day (most often this occurs in the wee hours of the morning, as you can see) on weekdays, and I will hopefully also post random artstuffs on the weekends. All these empty promises are laid out for you here to, again, aid in my quest to discipline myself in the practice of my favorite craft (cartooning, duh) and, again again, to feed my horrible, terrible need for affirmation from anyone who will provide it (either that or you can tear me a new one and know that I will be crying myself to sleep while cursing your name into my pillow. *ahem*).

Prior to having this Blogger/BlogSpot page here, I was posting my comics at my xanga site, and will continue to do so until I...don't. anymore. I also have one a' those newfangled MySpace pages, so check that out, too, if you feel so inclined.

I realize probably no one is reading all this crap, but I'm borderline obsessive-compulsive, so, y'know, what are you gonna do...

Anyway, I made this page here so that people who don't have a xanga account could freely comment on my stuff, so, if you want to, please do. Then tell all your friends about me, and check back regularly. I am also planning on eventually archiving my older comic posts from my xanga site here, and, as time goes on, making this site a little spiffier in terms of design and cool links (in the right-hand column there) to sweet stuff I've found on the interweb (my other job - finding cool but useless entertainment on the 'net and telling everyone about it, even those who don't. care. at all.).

Okay, I think I'm actually done. Please enjoy this less-than-stellar first installment of my daily comic here, and when you're done, please leave me a comment and tell me what you thought, or at least tell me a joke...or something. Click the image to view it bigger, and for God's sake, have a good day.
